ZURICH, SWITZERLAND: The longlist of the New7Wonders Cities will be announced tomorrow, Monday, 7 October 2013, following the completion of the current Qualification Phase of the campaign. Since 7 March 2012, voters around the world have been making their choices from the more than 300 cities in the campaign’s second stage and the top 77 will soon be revealed. Immediately afterwards, the New7Wonders Cities Panel of Experts will advise on the selection of the 28 Official Finalist Candidates and the shortlist will be presented on Monday, 21 October.
Eamonn Fitzgerald, Head of Communication at New7Wonders, comments: “This should surely be the most diverse longlist in New7Wonders history: fascinatingly various in terms of geography, history, culture and commerce. The 77 can be expected to range from the ancient to the modern and from traditional urban icons to present day megacities. Ultimately, though, the shape of the list lies in the hands of the voters.”
Following the announcement of the 28 Official Finalist Candidates on 21 October, voting for the New7Wonders Cities Finalists will proceed across three qualifying phases. The Official New7Wonders Cities, chosen by hundreds of millions of votes from around the world, will be revealed on 7 December 2014: 7.12.2014.
