A year of Official Inauguration celebrations for the New7Wonders of Nature began in April in the Philippines with ceremonies in Manila and at the site of the wonder itself, the Puerto Princesa Underground River (PPUR), in Palawan Province. The focal point of each of the two events was the unveiling of a specially-commissioned bronze plaque listing the site in the “canon of 7″ and committing it to Global Memory. Guests of honour at the Official Inauguration events were President Benigno S. Aquino III, Puerto Princesa Mayor Edward Hagedorn and Bernard Weber, Founder-President of New7Wonders
